A true jazz prodigy, Matt began his recording career at age 7 with his parents managing all aspects of his career. By age 14, with his career flourishing, Matt’s parents realized a more professional approach to promotion was required.
STRATEGY
In positioning Matt, we believed that his musical ability could and should stand on its own and be taken seriously. We did not want promoters to think of Matt only in terms of his young age.
CREATIVE
The creative theme we created for Matt acknowledges the respected heritage of jazz. A playful adaptation of the Blue Note design confidently positioned Matt as a true jazz musician, and asks for no special considerations because of his youth.
RESULT
With support from the new brand identity and design we created, Matt soon made national appearances with David Letterman and Conan O’Brien, and performed live at some of the best jazz venues in New York.
